A native of Rockingham, NC, Dr. Vivian Ariail Throop earned her doctorate of dental surgery at The Ohio State University Dental School with magna cum laude honors. She then attended a general practice residency (GPR) at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. During her residency, she focused on dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and smile redesign. She then returned to Raleigh and worked as an associate until she established City of Oaks Dental.
In her free time, Dr. Throop enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets, Ricky and Lucy. She is also an avid fan of the University of North Carolina Tarheels and The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
Dr. Throop received her fellowship from the Las Vegas Institute of Dental Studies and completed a mini-residency in dental sleep medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her formal education includes The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, The Ohio State University Dental School, and Albert Einstein Medical Center.
